Happy Birthday Ross Goldberg!

The very first person to believe in me when I first made a decision to pursue Internet Marketing full time was Ross Goldberg. He was behind me during the good and the bad times. He always knew when I needed that swift kick in the pants to get me out of a slump, and he always encouraged me to keep going when things were not going my way (or I did not see far enough down the road to know that I just needed to keep going).

I remember the phone call I received in July of 2008, the year I finally walked away from my job. Ross was in Chicago getting set up for his Masters Seminar, and he told me “you need to get up here, bro!”

I was wallowing in the crap that surrounded me at home, and I did not know how I would be able to swing a trip to Chicago, let alone get a hotel room. Well, when I got that call, I had been pretty down, so I told Ross, “I really don’t have the money for a trip to Chicago… I took the time off from work, in the hopes that my commissions would come in, but nothing… I have $50 in my Paypal.”

“Listen, I really need you up here, don’t worry about the hotel room, I’ll make sure you have a place to stay, just get up here, bro!”

So I checked my frequent flyer miles, and I found I had enough miles to book a flight, but the only flight that was available was in less than 2 hours, and I was not ready… but I booked it anyway, because I knew that Ross was counting on me. It took my last $50 to reserve the ticket, because it was less than 24 hours to fly out, but I was able to get the flight.

I sent an email out to my list between shower and packing, telling them about my trip and how I had my coaching program available at an outrageous discount and that they could score it while I was flying to Chicago. Then I drove like the wind to Gainesville Airport, and of course I missed the flight, because it takes an hour and a half to get to Gainesville, but I knew that a second flight was leaving from there an hour later. As soon as I arrived in Gainesville, the ticket agent said I had missed my flight, but that they had gotten me a spot on the next flight, so I ended up getting to Chicago that same evening!

During my layovers, I advertised a couple of products that I had on Rapid Action Profits and found that I had made a couple of sales netting me about $30, which helped pay my lunch and dinner. But I arrived late that night, and I couldn’t catch up with Ross. his phone went straight to voice mail, which told me he was crashed, because he was running pretty hard all day, getting set up for the event the next morning.

I hung around the hotel lobby for a while, and finally settled in for the night on a loveseat in a (somewhat) quiet section where all the conference rooms were, and stretched out to sleep a while. Around 2AM, I still hadn’t slept, and I looked at my email via my phone and noticed that I had made a sale of my coaching program. I was excited, because that was $200… so I quickly went to the front desk and told them I needed a room. The clerk said they were sold out, but she pointed me to the hotel across the street! I went across the street and booked a room for $179 for the night – I needed to sleep, the music in the lobby at the first hotel was too perky for me to sleep…lol.

The rest of the weekend continued to be filled with miraculous experience after miraculous experience,, as I found just enough money to get what I needed – either lunch, dinner, parking fees and I bunked with Ross in his room along with two other marketers who slept during the day and worked most of the night on graphics and other projects (they usually didn’t get into the room until Ross and I headed out, so we hardly ever saw them…lol).

If I had not gone to that event…

I would not have met Felicia Slattery, Tracy Repchuck and James Lee there, which would have made it much harder for me to become friends with them at a later time (each of whom I have seen multiple times since that event). I doubt I would have been chosen for the Impact Action Team, had I not made that leap of faith. And I would not have solidified my friendship with a certain Yvonne Lyon, whom I had first met in person at the first Masters Seminar. We had lunch together with Willie Crawford, dinner with a huge group and of course, she was helping Ross with the seminar as I was. So I managed to talk with her quite a bit throughout the weekend.

That Chicago Masters Seminar was the turning point in my business, too. I now had a coaching client, who went on to become a speaker in his own right, not even one year later. I had developed relationships with many of my favorite marketers, who are now some of my best online friends – Lee & Robin Collins, Alan Bechtold, Erik Stafford (who spoke for the first time on Ross’ stage) and of course Donna Fox, who I was bumping into at almost every event I attended or helped at in 2007 and 2008.

Because of Ross Goldberg, I never gave up on my dream. I hope you have a friend like Ross in your life. Someone who will not give you everything, but will believe in you and help you become your best. I think there are times we take a friendship for granted, and I feel like sometimes I took advantage of my friendship with Ross to get access to his training and tools – even though I would gladly work for Ross on whatever he wanted done if he asked.

The Traffic Master

But because of this access, I was able to develop on online presence that makes it very difficult to erase. Ross revealed everything he knew about web traffic in his first ebook, Traffic Masters. Then his Traffic Manifesto updated the Traffic Masters to include much of what is taught today by the other marketers. It is no surprise to me that Ross is releasing his first print book: The Web Traffic Book. He has been the guy that the experts talk about when they are discussing traffic strategy. And his software is designed to work without leaving a footprint, which Ross explains in detail on his blog.

When you get his book, keep it next to your computer. You will find yourself referring to it time and again as you plan out your SEO. You might want a couple copies if you have a staff, because having everyone on the same page is crucial in getting your message out there.

Since today is Ross’ birthday, tell others about his book. Either you can send them here to read about the man behind the legend, or send them to his website:

http://webtrafficbook.com

Then tell my friend Happy Birthday!

Introducing Hands Off Blogging

Will Blog For Food

As a blog owner, you understand that content is the reason you have visitors. You also understand that good content requires research and a devotion to the topic. The problem is that when we create a niche blog to sell affiliate products, we aren’t that interested in the topic, and we are time challenged, so we buy PLR products and cut it up into pieces and post it on our blog.

Then you read the content and immediately see how it looks like someone wrote the post translating from one language to another before ending up in English… Quality articles from PLR is hard to find, because many PLR merchants take articles they find and spin them into new articles rather than pay for someone to research and write from scratch.

The struggle to make a blog that people will come back to for more information is not only impacting the affiliate marketing industry, it is causing the search engines to drop blogs that do not update their content very often. This makes the blog less profitable, because nobody is finding it.

Alas, Someone Hears You!

I am starting a new project that will solve the content problem once and for all, because my writers will be doing all the work. I have at my disposal a very good team of writers numbering in the hundreds who actually speak and write in English as their first language! These writers cover thousands of topics of expertise, and they are willing to research and write blog posts and articles for your blog!

Not only that, but I am offering a maintenance package along with the content to make your blog totally hands off! You just place your affiliate links in strategic locations, and allow my team to give your blog the content the readers and search engines love plus make sure it is updated and backed up in case of emergencies.

As I start rolling out Hands Off Blogging, you will see that more services will be available in the future, like video creation, audios of your blog posts, etc. For now we are only offering articles and blog posts with or without a maintenance package, but when we roll out the additional services, the first people we will be contacting is our current clients!

The Offer You Can’t Refuse!

Now here is what I am doing right now…

I have a beta test going on right now to see how the writers take to getting the content done in a hurry while still delivering quality work. I want to pile on more clients now while the writers are busy, but I don’t want to kill them, either.

Only 10 New Clients Per Service Level

I am giving a discounted trial of each of the service levels to 10 new clients only!
The reason for this is to test the output of the writers. So I am discounting most service levels 50% for the first month. You can cancel at any time.

Blog posts consist of a 250 – 300 word post.

Who Has Time For All This?

You might feel a little overwhelmed when you look at your blogging, because you start with the research, find a niche, find out if the niche is viable (are people spending money), find out if any affiliate products exist and find content about this niche before you even have time to think about installing a blog for it.

Coming up with relevant content for blogs is vital to make any money at all online. In an interview on SuccessFool.tv last night, Justin Brooke explained how he went from 200 visitors per day doing one post per week to well over 1000 visitors per day now that he writes daily posts! This is an incredible increase in readership, because he is delivering important, relevant content on the subject of his blog!

Fishing In Your Niche

If you want your dog training blog to sell your dog training products, you really need to have articles and blog posts flowing into your content stream on a regular basis. At least one article per week should be featured on your blog AND submitted to the article networks for backlinks to your blog. In addition, for your blog to really take off, you should also have daily posts of 250 – 300 words that lead up to the featured article.

Article Particles…

Your blog should be the central hub of your social networks, and with the right plugins, your articles will help you get even more readers. What you do is take one section of an article, and make a video about it. With the PodPress plugin, your blog will create a podcast from the video and send it to iTunes so that you get even more exposure. Your main points from your articles should be sent out via twitter, and when your blog posts are published, your blog can send out a ping with the WP-Ping plugin to alert the 30 different social networks that ping.fm serves that you have just posted an article.

No Rest…

If you are working a full time job in addition to trying to run on an online business, you may also find yourself thinking that you really didn’t need to go through all of this when all you really need to do is drink one less coffee in the morning on the way to work…

Tomorrow: Part 5 – Solution For The Weary Niche Blogger

Have you heard about Easy Exit Splash, the script that will revolutionize conversions, even when people are ready to leave your site? It gives you the ability to stop them in their tracks and speak to them with an audio message before they close the exit ad.
How to Not Suck at Socializing
1. Start a conversation.
2. Look for the little things.
3. Dress the part.
4. Conversations take two, not just you.
5. Keep open body language.

Socialization on a blog is not that different from socializing in real life! You locate other bloggers in your niche and start a conversation with them by commenting on their blog. When you comment, don’t look like a spammer by saying “nice blog” instead, take the time to look for the little things that you either agree or disagree with so that you can start that dialog. Of course, you shouldn’t start right in and beat them to a virtual pulp with the strength of your logic, or you won’t get a very good conversation started, you are much better off starting off with something you do agree with, then going on to the part where you part ways.

In dressing the part, you should not be using an affiliate link to your biggest money making product and the keywords for your product as your name and website. You should use your name, or your blog title, and a link back to a related blog post to the subject you are discussing.

When someone leaves a comment on your blog, thank them for commenting, both on the blog and in an email. This helps keep the dialog between two or more people, and encourages the wallflowers to participate.

Body language on a blog is your tone when you write. When you write in an angry and foreboding tone, people are not going to feel as likely to respond when you are trying to start a conversation. Also, how you respond to others’ comments makes a big difference in whether someone else will comment on your blog. Bloggers who bite the heads off of commenters with opposing viewpoints usually end up not getting many comments at all.

So socializing using your blog is very important and very much like socializing in real life. Keep in mind that you are writing to people, and you are much more likely to see traffic growth both in the short term, but in the long term as well, because people will spread the word about good resources.

EzineArticles: How to Add an EzineArticles Widget
to your Website or Blog

I mention the EzineArticles Widget here because with the widget comes another way for you to get traffic AND search engine love. Your articles will appear in the widget on other sites, and others articles will appear yours, giving your visitors a more complete experience. In fact

With blogs and other websites, the amount of content you publish will make the difference between a successful website and one that has little tumbleweeds rolling across the text. Your audience will not come to the website, unless you are providing them a lot of value.

If you aren’t interesting to humans, the search engine spiders will dump you very quickly. They look at how often people visit the website, whether they return, how long they stay and whether they comment on or rate your content. It is definitely worth your time to write good, compelling, maybe even controversial content to get people talking about you.

With article writing, you can keep a steady flow of content coming to your website, while also getting backlinks back to your website! I recently started doing the 100 Articles In 100 Days challenge from Jeff Herring and I have found that my article writing is getting better. Not only that, but more people are adding me on Twitter and going to my blogs. Writing articles for submission to the article sites really makes iteasier to get more people to your blog.

Part of the reason I call blogs a social medium is because you have to have other people involved on your blog for it to have any results. If you are after the tumbleweeds, then you don’t have to worry about people, but those of us who want to make our blogs happy, active places need people!

While driving around Tampa for the last Internet Marketing Masters Seminar, I managed to find a lot of signs that promised a complete website design for $375. I thought about that and the thought that came to me was that they were installing WordPress and calling it a full website design.

Of course it is easy to tell someone you are installing a complete website when you install WordPress, because as a content management system, it is one of the easiest to use!

Of course, the very same website that costs $375 today used to be at least $1,500. Of course, with blog installations, you do want to make sure the plugins are installed, your themes are ready to use, any images that needed modified were taken care of to make the website unique to the owner. These things take time, but they do not require the specialized knowledge that they once did in the days of $1,500 websites!

I started working on a website I plan to sell, and the first thing I did was install WordPress, then I included the theme that I liked, and then found a stock photo I could use for the background and header of the site. Basically, the site is finished once I have the plugins tweaked and the theme looking the way I want it.
