I despise negative, doom and gloom articles.  So please don’t condemn me for this one. You will see that there is hope at the end of the tunnel!

I am part of larger teams, I have many friends who are affiliate managers, JV brokers and product owners.  Being in the place I am now, it is really interesting to watch. The problem seems to be that product owners are having difficulties having affiliates and JV partners who will promote their product with any kind of effort.

Of course, it is not all the affiliate’s fault.  Look at the current launch landscape.  My calendar is booked up until mid December for products to promote.  This week alone, I had 3 products to promote, and 10 others launched at the same time.

I am not getting invited to some of the parties, while I am getting invites from a lot of people that don’t have a product I can stand behind.  That is important, because many JV partners look at what you have done for them before they will do something for you.

That is an observation, and it IS human nature to only help those who have helped you in the past.  I got an email where one of the product owners jokingly said “If you don’t promote this, then unsubscribe from my JV list and don’t ask me to ever promote your products!”

I took it the wrong way and emailed him, telling him I had never asked for his promotional help, and that I had promoted many of his products in the past and tha tI didn’t appreciate the threat.  He replied back that he had been joking, but that illustrates the state of the affiliate marketing game.

Product Owners are tired of looking for people to promote their stuff.

Meanwhile, affiliates are overwhelmed with products to promote.  The folks who post their products in the Joint Venture networks at least one month ahead of schedule usually have better luck having some of the bigger “rockstars” of the affiliate marketing world get behind their project.

If you aren’t on these networks, you are left on the outside looking in, so to speak…  You only find out about products when the products are launching, when you don’t have time to prepare and get a review of the product ready or a bonus to help you sell more copies.

Wouldn’t It Be Great If You Could?

  • Uncover the EXACT products that successful affiliate marketers are already promoting. If they’re making money promoting a product, you’ll be able to as well!

  • See trends in whatever market/niche you want to promote. You’ll be able to see which products are being promoted by more and more people. If a product is slowly being promoted by more and more people each day, the chances are very good the product converts and is making their affiliates money.

  • Find products that not only convert extremely high for their affiliates, but also pay incredibly high commission payouts. Making $100+ a sale on a product is not uncommon.

  • Uncover products that will pay you recurring commissions where you’ll make 1 sale and be paid each and every month for that initial sale. This is great for establishing a longterm, stable business.

Isn’t that what affiliates are looking to do?  Find the products that can make them more money right away, so they can promote them in their niches without having to spend a lot of money being on JV Broker’s Lists!

I was going to suggest getting Affiliate Elite from Brad Callen, but that software is $176!  You can set it and it will tell you what products are selling in a niche and get you the stats… but you might as well sign up for jvAlert for $75 a month at that price…lol.

Brad did have a deal where he was giving a $4.95 trial of the software for one month and then you just pay the monthly maintenance fee to keep using the software.

There were only a few spots left for this free trial, so it the page says “Sorry You Are Too Late” then I apologize for getting your hopes up.

Bernie Dorman wrote a tongue in cheek parody of Affiliate Elite when he was not invited to promote it. He called it Redneck Affiliate Eleete! He basically gives you the step by step manual way of doing what Affiliate Elite does, without paying a lot for it.  It is time consuming, but it does work.  If nothing else, it is hilarious, with pictures of rednecks throughout the book.

With tools like that, affiliates can find products to promote and be able to stick to a niche without broadcasting it all of creation and add to their competition.

There Is Something Nichey Going On Around Here!

The thing is, product launches in IM are only getting the big guys to promote them successfully, because they control 70% of the market’s lists!  If guys like Mike Filsaime, Ian Del Carmen, Russell Brunson and Keith Wellman all promote a product, you can be pretty sure that most of your list will have seen the product before your email hits them.

It is becoming less likely for affiliates to jump on a new product in the Internet Marketing Niche with that kind of competition.  More likely, finding products that the big guys are no longer promoting is the best way to make money, because you will get some of the newer members of your community who may not have heard of that product to take a look.

Calling All Affiliates!

Sometimes a marketer will get a large group of affiliates excited about promoting their products by holding a contest.  Contests usually require some minimum number of sales, but they do motivate affiliates to get out there and promote.

I used to jump on these and promote daily, 2 or 3 emails, about all of the exciting products that were available for sale!  While I did make a lot of sales, I felt bad about the number of emails I was subjecting my community to and I stopped doing that.

Now I use my blogs to inform my community about what is going on.  I can post multiple products based on the topic of my post, and it really makes a big difference to the amount of email going to my community!  But you must remember that most people will not come to a blog to be sold to, they want to be informed.  Your content must be solid to keep people coming to your site and sticking with you!

Blogging is great, as long as you give your readers a reason to follow you! But not all affiliates can be blogging for you, and not all of them can mail for you!  So that leaves you with the dilemma of finding great affiliates who will help you get the word out about your product!

If you are new to the IM circuit, then I recommend attending events.  It is critical to getting your face associated with your name.  But you won’t find events every weekend, and you can’t continually spend cash on events, because the plane tickets, hotel rooms and restaurants really cut into your profits.  So you should be a part of some online groups where you can meet other people.

Twitter is a great place to do that, because you will meet a lot of amazing people.  You must take your time and get to know the people before jumping in with the pitch about your product.  I still don’t have a comfortable enough relationship with John Reese to tweet him about my latest project and ask him to promote it.

You will find some folks who find it easy to start with the sales pitch after a couple tweets, but they do not typically have a great following.  A lot of pitching is a good way to get a reputation that is very hard to lose.

Forums are great places, and everyone in the IM niche knows about the Warrior Forum.  I avoid it, because it has become a little cliquey, in my opinion.  If you are more outgoing than I am, you will find it to your liking.

My own favorite is The Internet Marketers Inner Circle, because the people who are on there have paid to be there, and they are looking to partner with people on projects.  You will find out about launches, product beta tests and even be in on the ground floor of a product from the planning stages all the way through to launch!

I really loved when I was asked to participate in the 20 Ways To $100 A Day ebook, where a group of TIMIC users each wrote a chapter and some of the members did graphics, sales page and design for the whole ebook. In less than 2 weeks we had a finished product because we worked together each using our strengths!

So if you are needing to get your product promoted, I would start by getting connected, and find the most reachable people to follow.  Learn as much from them as you can, and then ask for recommendations as to who else you should be learning from!

Have an amazing day!
