When starting to build a list, it is very important to decide on your method of delivery. Either you want to have every email address on your hard drive and use a program like Group Mail or Guerrilla Mailer to send your emails out from your desktop.
I prefer using an autoresponder system like aweber, because they ensure deliverability, without your having to stay connected to the Internet the whole time you are sending email. With today’s broadband solutions, that is less of an issue than it was a few years ago. But the deliverability of email is very important, because once your email address or your home IP address becomes blacklisted by SpamCop, you can forget about your emails going through normal channels. Aweber spends a lot of time getting in contact with hundreds of ISP’s and email providers to let them know that people opted in to the emails that you are sending. It would take you a seriously long time to do this on your own.. Especially once your list grows to multiple thousands.
