Plain and simple, when you are building one way links to your money page, you are giving your website an advantage. Those links are what helps the search engines determine how much authority your website commands. Think of it like a general, a colonel and a major in the armed forces.
When your website first launches, you don’t have any links pointing to it. It is like one of the corporals out of officer school. Usually it is a while before they are given command of any troops. As more sites link to our corporal, the rank increases. It may become a Lieutenant as more and more low level sites link to it.
Getting to be a higher ranking site, however, means getting more powerful sites to link to it. As the Lieutenant increases in authority, he may have some corporals under his command. Maybe he gets the recommendations of a few Majors, a Colonel and a General. Other officers take notice. Pretty soon the authority of this site has gone up and a promotion is in order.
Once it becomes a Major, it has many Corporals and Lieutenants under its authority. Now Majors, Colonels and Generals are taking notice and this adds to the authority of the site. The more higher ranking sites are pointing (with one way links) to our major, the better.
Unequal Authority.
Authority sites are not equal… many higher ranking sites can impart a lot more authority to a website from a single link than 100 links from lower authority sites. So when you are trying to build up your site authority, you should spend less time on the enlisted sites (no PR) and spend more time creating link on Colonel (PR7) or General (PR8) sites.
You must realize that by getting one link from a PR8 website, you are saving yourself a lot of work. The single link from PR8 is like hundreds of PR7 links which is link thousands of PR6 links… you get the idea. So if you are targeting PR1 and PR0 sites, you are in for a lot of work.
The problem is, it is much harder to get links that mean anything from a Colonel or General. Sure, there are ways to do it, by searching for your keywords and looking at the sites that come up and going to link on those sites by commenting or asking a question. With the right analysis tools, you can see which sites your keywords are showing up on and what their rankings are. This means you can choose your battles and go after the top echelon of website authority, instead of spending a lot of your time on sites that hardly help your cause.
Your Mission:
To get high ranking one way links to your money site, the first thing you need is content. By creating some of the top content in your field, you will attract the attention of the Generals, Colonels and Majors. Videos, Articles and Podcasts are the primary targets for you to use to gain authority. Some of the top sites are Video, Article and Podcast sites. The more content you are placing in those sites, the higher the authority you will gain from them.
Note I mentioned quality. Spinning articles will get you volume (quantity) which on its own is useless, because you still need one way links from higher ranking sites to make any headway. You can get your articles listed on the lower ranking article sites very easily, but the Major, Colonel and General article sites are very particular. If your article is very similar to another article you submitted, or it does not make sense, you are dead in the water.
Videos are much the same, if you simply copy other people’s videos, you might get a few links from it, but when you submit content that is outstanding, you will have thousands of people leaving comments, and the search engines will see that. The higher you rank on the video sites the better the authority of your links.
It is possible to get ranked by simply submitting more and more content of questionable quality, because sheer volume will get you one way links. The question is whether you need the authority as much as you need the search engine placement. As you continue to place content, you will have search engine results that appear on the first page, even if it is low quality. You can earn money using these tactics, but if you are after the elusive General or Colonel ranking for your site, quality content is the way to go.

Jeff Johnson, in another attempt to win back the early birds that missed out on their chance at getting into the Traffic Voodoo Membership Site, has opened up a back door to buy the package. He had intended to only tell his list of Early Bird subscribers, since they had received word long after the Traffic Voodoo site had already been opened, and many of them had been unable to purchase because of problems with the shopping cart.
