I get asked by people in my neighborhood, what exactly it is I do for a living. They see me almost every day, at almost any time of the day, and I never go off to work. They don’t see very many people coming to visit, and they only see me when I go on walks around town with Yvonne. The thing that really works their minds into a complete knot is the fact that Yvonne is usually with me all the time, too, which means she is not the one supporting me.

It is very strange, the look on their faces, when I tell them that I work online. It is the look that says “oh you sell porn” or “funny, you don’t look like a porn star” because they really have no clue what working online means. The thing is, I don’t sell porn, and I am only a porn star in my own mind, so I usually have to educate them about what it is I do online. At a recent New Year’s party, one neighbor perked up when she heard I was an online marketer, and she asked a few more questions later on about how to get her own presence online (she sells insurance).

But marketing online is only as good as the product you choose to market online. When you are marketing some of the hot, in demand, products in a market that has limited competition, you can make a lot of money. The thing you have to remember is that you do not want to jump in to markets that are overly competitive, because that can cost you a lot of money, really quickly, while your chances of making a return on that investment is slim.

Three Tips To Increase Your Chances Of Success:

• Choose markets outside of the make money online market.
• Design a product funnel that brings prospects through higher and more sophisticated offerings over time.
• Find products that are already created for you to enhance your marketing funnel and make you money to invest in additional product creation.

Choosing Markets

When you decide on a market, it should be something that you can get behind. You don’t have to know a whole lot about it (yet), but you should be able to find magazines and books on the topic rather easily.

The good part about choosing markets is that you can start broad and niche down into tighter segments for higher profits. You decide on Golf, for example, then you can niche down into Golfing in Vermont, Island Golfing, or Chip Shots Techniques. Each of these is in your main market, but most of these are not directly competing with quite as many marketers. You can find Golf magazines, and the magazines are going to help you figure out what you should be selling.

Your Product Funnel

Because you are choosing a broad market and selectively niching down, your product funnel will look more like a mind map, than a funnel. Your goal is to make your company the one source for all things Golf, but you do it by establishing your expertise in many very tight sub-niches! This is done by making certain your products are all pointing to your main (market) site, rather than aiming for the tightly niched product site. If you establish a strong brand identity in each of the niches for your market, people will identify your company as the leading expert in the market.

You want to have a lot of low cost entry points into your product funnel, with the higher priced products being the next logical step in the customer’s progression. For example, you might have a $10 ebook on Top Golf Courses In Vermont, which is your entry point to your product funnel. Your higher end products might be cold weather clothing for golfers, golf trips to Vermont or a 10 golf course tour of Vermont for $5000. If you make arrangements with the golf courses in Vermont, you can create specials that puts money in your pocket while putting golfers on the golf course for the course owner. You can also get the golf pros at these courses to joint venture with you to offer a training class for the people who take your tour for a flat rate, so that you can charge the $5000 and then pay each golf pro a cut for his part in the deal.

By thinking creatively, you can find a lot of ways to help your local community (if you are in Vermont) while building your brand and making money. You can also charge each golf course owner a small fee for being included in your ebook… especially if you can show the course owners your subscriber numbers for your newsletter. In this case, you are being paid for creating the ebook! Outsource the whole thing if you aren’t very good at it. Just contact your golf course owners and get the info for your book! The outsourcers can do the rest.

Save Time By Selling Other People’s Products

Private Label Rights (PLR) products have taken a bad rap because of the number of people who buy them and immediately turn around and resell them as Private Label Rights instead of selling the product themselves. In niche marketing, PLR can save you a lot of time and effort while you are still doing your market research.

Let’s say I found a Golf Putting Tips PLR ebook and I want to see if Putting is a good niche to go into in my Golf market. I spend the $200 on the PLR book, invest about 10 hours on converting it into my own work by changing the formatting (you should come up with a format that you will repeat throughout your market, so that when someone buys your product in one niche, they will also find the same look and feel in all other niches that you are in) and of course add my own links to the text so that I am directing traffic back to my main Golf sites and affiliate products.

Not only are there some great PLR products, but you will also find that some Resale Rights products are available in your market. In my opinion, some marketers are not seeing the possibilities by only reselling PLR. If they take a little time and put the effort into making the PLR into a product that they can resell themselves, they can help themselves get good traffic to one of their offers by simply embedding the links into the PLR product and then selling the product with resell rights.

Most products sold to the end user are not going to need resell rights, but you can make a decent second income by allowing your customers to resell your product if the buy a license to resell it. You can also offer commissions for the sale of that product by affiliates. This can end up getting you an endless stream of new customers into your funnel by simply offering the customer the resale rights or a chance to join your affiliate program. This is one of the main reasons I love using RAPScript.com for all products I sell. Every sale should be a beginning, with the rest of the relationship evolving as you are providing your new friend with great information and leading them down the path toward the next product that they are going to need. You should not have to worry about too much selling if you are also providing good information that the prospect needed!

Remember: give your customers what they need and sell them what they want! This is vital, because as the golfer becomes more confident with his Vermont golfing, he is also going to want to bring his buddies on a golf excursion. Soon, you might have a group from California wanting to fly out to Vermont and take your 10 course tour, because of the recommendations from the person who started out by downloading your free report that explained why they need to use different equipment when golfing in Vermont or how golfing is different in Vermont compared to other states. It is all in the value you place within the free information and the proper planning of your market, your product funnel for that market and the products you resell within that product funnel.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my readers and followers on all of the social networks I am a part of. I really do love each and every one of the people I interact with. It is such a pleasure to know that thousands of people are out there and have an interest in what I am doing.

Sometimes, it appears like my ego talking, but it is very humbling, really, when I consider how far we have come together.
