People have been asking me what the heck they should do now that the eBay Slap has basically removed one of their major lead building methods. I am not worried, because I only have one small portion of my business on eBay and I am going to adapt it to the changing landscape.
RAPidly Redirecting My Customers…
Since I already own Rapid Action Profits (RAP), I already had an ecommerce website set up with a method of receiving payments and delivering digital downloads. I just had to create a sales page, a bonus page and a download page, and then add a One Time Offer.
I created a tool to work with RAP and make it much easier to edit the template files by just clicking on a button to copy the RAP Codes to the windows clipboard, and then I just pasted it into the template wherever I needed it. I will be selling RAPid Template Coder sometime before April 14th. I need to do some videos on how to use it, first, so that I will have a complete product.
Beta Testers Needed…
Since I want to get RAPid Template Coder to market in April, I need a group of people to become Beta Testers for it. I thought about asking my current JV partners, but then I thought about how the Internet community is full of Testimonials from JV partners, and it just doesn’t look right. I want to get people who have purchased Rapid Action Profits and are using it to add products from either MRR packages or some that they have created.
So here is the deal, anyone who purchases RAP from me will get to Beta Test RAPid Template Coder and receive lifetime updates for as long as they are registered users of the software.
Anyone else who has already purchased RAP, but from someone else, will get a trial version of the software and can get the full version for $17, before I launch the software. After I launch, the software will be $37 for everyone. You see the software will also come with videos, “guide me” browsers that show you step by step how to set up your products in RAP, and more bonuses than I can tell you about right now!
How Do You Sign Up?
To become a beta tester, just fill out a support ticket and I will give you instructions on where to register and download.
Non RAPpers, Rejoice!
If you can’t afford a system like Rapid Action Profits, you are not left out in the cold, because I have a video training series on creating your own ecommerce website using nothing but free tools! The video series is not free, but the rest of the set up is!
I decided to give everyone who purchases How To Create An Ecommerce Site Using WordPress before April 15th, 2008 a $7 discount, but only if you buy from this link.
Have an amazing day!

Hi Micheal,
Sounds like an interesting system.
I’m not sure what all the fuss is about with eBay now not allowing people not sell digitally delivered media. Yes I appreciate it was a bit of a shock when we all found out, and I too thought, ‘oh what the heck, now what can I do?’. But now it has sunken in, we all have to adapt with the changes.
We should all be used to changes in our modern world, like for example, the smoking ban, or not being able to use your mobile whilst driving and not being able to take fluids on airplanes, to name but a few. We changed with the times, and that is just what we have to do here.
I’m not saying I agree with eBay’s decision, but at the end of the day it is fact.
Some sellers are saying about sending out cd’s. This might work for some products like software, but not information products I don’t think. In this digital age, which eBay seem to be going back to the stone age, people want information immediately, like now, not in 5 days time, or even longer if it is being sent from overseas. Also about sending CD’s, I’m thinking that eBook buyers may not know about this change if they don’t sell eBooks themselves, and as of the 31st March will still assume they will get an immediate download. When they don’t get it, you leave yourselve open for negative feedback and lowering your DSR’s. For this reason alone, I am not going to go straight in there and sell on CD. I am going to wait at least a couple of weeks to see how the market is for it.
Personally, I think, why are people saying, okay so we can’t sell digitally delivered products on eBay. The solution is simple to me. Don’t sell on eBay. Go to other auction sites like eBid or easybid to name two, and just type in eBook into the search box and see what you find. eBay is not the only selling platform out there. The sooner other people start realising this, the sooner will realise that they do have competition and may stop hiking up their fees and making stupid decisions. Also if people go down this route and use other services to sell their products, then they should learn from this, and that is not to rely on one selling platform.
Thank you, and keep up the good work Micheal.

Marc,
With ebooks, what I recommend is when the buyer fills out the form to have the CD sent to him/her, you redirect them to the download page, so that they get immediate access to the ebook while waiting for the backup copy to arrive.
This also works out, because you can also offer upsells and other promos on the download page as well!
With CD duplication houses all over the world, shipping CD’s is quick and reliable – usually at a very low cost, even overseas.
Hope that helps!

Ebay didn’t say you CAN’T sell digital goods; you just have to use a Classified Ad listing. Some may complain about the cost ($10 for 30 days) but others may look at that as a reasonable deal. Since there’s no Feedback with Classified Ads you don’t have to worry about damaging your FB score with bogus complaints from people who buy 99 cent ebooks.
A change in strategy is all that’s needed. The Classified Ad lets you presell and point the customer to your website with an OTO and anything else you want to offer. If you go the CD route you can include intructional videos, and audio version of the ebook, etc. More value for the customer = higher selling price.

While you are arguing semantics, you are missing the whole reason this is an issue in the first place, which is that entire membership sites were created on the premise that you create a report, sell it in an auction for a few cents and get massive amounts of leads.
In my experience with Classified ads on eBay, you don’t get nearly the volume that you could get with an auction format. Sure $10 per month is cheap compared to the listing and final value fees on auctions that did not make any money on to begin with, but if your profit funnel was well designed, you could profit handsomely.
But the fact that you cannot do auctions for digital downloads is an issue, because all of a sudden, entire ebook series and membership websites are totally invalid until they recover from the slap. My goal in this post and the subsequent posts is to help those who are lost because of this catastrophe in their eyes.
eBay was never a large portion of my business, mainly because I never believed in putting too many of my eggs in any one basket… the bottom tends to fall out of overly filled baskets.
So while you are right about changing strategy, a good idea is to develop a website that you can use to sell products from multiple sources of leads.
Use YouTube videos, Craigs List, Web 2.0 sites in general and social network sites in particular to drive leads, and have the backend ready for the leads. That is why I recommend having an ecommerce site in place either through the use of Rapid Action Profits (which I figured out works very well for giveaways, too!) or an ecommerce site created from WordPress. If you can fill that site up with different products that pull in revenue to you and you alone, you are going to find that you revenue streams will last longer than if you do a lot of JV’s and autoresponder swaps.
Have an amazing day!
