On an airliner, the flight attendants give a short presentation about some of the safety features on the plane. They explain how to use the seat belt, where the emergency exits are located, how to use the seat cushion as a flotation device and how to use the oxygen mask in the case of cabin depressurization. One line that they say on all flights is “make sure you secure your mask and oxygen flow before helping others with theirs.”
In network marketing, this is often the concept that we forget about. We are so worried about helping others get set up properly, that we fail to set ourselves up for success.
While I was in Las Vegas for the Pure Leverage Freedom Live event, many of the speakers talked about wanting to sign up new people… not for the money, but for what it can do for them. I agree with this philosophy, but in the beginning, you really have the make sure your business has reached a point of stability before you attempt to help others.
If you do not know how to do something in your business, how are you going to be able to help your new people with those tasks?
